CAUSE Kids focuses on the following key areas for healthy child development:
EDUCATION – Formal education is available in the developing world although often unattainable due to costs associated with attending school. Therefore, access to formal education is a primary component of CAUSE Kids through the provision of texts, school uniforms, and educational supplies. Further, CAUSE Kids facilitates bringing primary education development workers into the schools to assist teachers in curriculum and lesson plan development, and to assist communities in forming parent-teacher associations.
HEALTH & WELL-BEING – Ensuring that children survive their early years is one of the major challenges international child sponsorship programs face. CAUSE addresses this need by providing a nutritious hot meal each day for all students in the sponsored communities. In addition a public health nurse will be made available on site to provide first aid, health monitoring, immunization, and health education. Of course, the benefits of immunization, health education, and health care are not limited to the school boundaries but benefit the health and economy of the entire community.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – CAUSE believes child development includes community development. Providing sponsored children with essentials of life – clean water, sanitation, food, and housing – is critical to their well-being. The CAUSE Kids program makes funds available to parent groups to determine priority projects directly affecting their own children and community welfare. Potential projects include micro-credit, community wells/latrines, agricultural programs, and business development training.
