CAUSE Canada has been active in grassroots community development with local partner organizations in the developing world since 1984. Its partners have been widely recognized for their effectiveness in promoting sustainable development in disadvantaged communities in Central America and West Africa. In particular, CAUSE has focused on development programs for women and children since its inception.

Three of the primary objectives in CAUSE Canada’s Charter of Operational Principles are:

CAUSE implements responsive, integrated community development in geographical regions where there is an under-representation of international assistance programs.

CAUSE invests in vulnerable and marginalized people, building their capacity, strengthening local leadership and management skills, thereby ensuring long-term, appropriate and sustainable progress toward the community’s own goals.

CAUSE honours long-term development commitments to communities and partners, respecting the fact that development is a process.
