Speaker Bios:
Paul Carrick B.A., Dip. (Managing the Non-Profit Organization)
Paul has been actively involved in international relief and development for over 30 years. He is the founder and former Executive Director of CAUSE Canada; co-founder and current Chairman of the Alberta Council for International Cooperation; and a part-time member of the Faculty of Continuing Education at the University of Calgary. Paul is regarded as a leader in the international NGO community, and has been the guest on radio shows, made numerous television appearances, appeared before parliamentary committees, and participated in numerous international conferences. Along with his wife, Bev, Paul has lived and worked in Canada, Switzerland, and
multiple locations in Africa and Central America.
Beverley Carrick B.Sc. (Nursing), M.A. (Leadership in International Development)
Bev has been working in international relief and development for over 30 years. She is the Executive Director and co-founder of CAUSE Canada. Originally a nurse, Bev entered fulltime into international development during the terrible famine in Ethiopia in 1974. Bev is often asked to appear on radio and television, and has spoken at many conferences on international development. Along with her husband, Paul, Bev has lived and worked in Canada, Switzerland, and
multiple locations in Africa and Central America.
Sean Krausert B.A. (Pol. Sci.), LL.B.
Sean has a wealth of experience in a variety of fields. In recent years he has worked in both the private and charitable sectors – being the Canadian Director for CAUSE Kids, the Director of Operations for a large construction project, and the past international Program Director for CAUSE Canada overseeing all programs in West Africa and Central America. Prior to these endeavours, Sean was a lawyer with experience in contracts, civil litigation, corporate law, and real estate. Sean is also an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church, and has ample professional experience in public presentation, facilitating workshops, and working with the media. In his work, Sean has traveled internationally to Sierra Leone, Guinea, Britain, France, Switzerland, Greece, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
