CAUSE Kids focuses on the following key areas for healthy child development: |
| Education |
| Children in the developing world often face barriers to formal education. CAUSE Kids breaks down these barriers by providing school uniforms, supplies, and textbooks. The program also supports teachers with formal and informal training and assists communities in forming parent-teacher associations. |
| Health & Well Being |
| Ensuring that children survive their early years is one of the major challenges international child sponsorship programs face. CAUSE Kids addresses this need by providing a nutritious breakfast and hot lunch for all students in the sponsored schools. CAUSE Kids works with local health clinics to provide first aid, health monitoring, immunization, and health education. The benefits of these programs are not limited to the school boundaries but benefit the health and economy of the entire community. |
| Community Development |
|
CAUSE Kids believes child development includes community development. Providing sponsored children with essentials of life – clean water, sanitation, food, and housing – is critical to their well-being. The CAUSE Kids program makes funds available to parent groups to determine priority projects directly affecting their own children and community welfare. Potential projects include micro-credit, community wells and latrines, agricultural programs, and business development training. |
| Sustainability |
|
CAUSE Kids understands that a successful program is defined by its sustainability. Our approach requires our partner schools to consider how they will manage operationally and financially even after CAUSE Kids has moved on to other worthy communities. The training and support of School Management Committees (SMCs, the equivalent of a Canadian School Board) is an important part of this process. SMCs will ultimately be responsible for managing the gardens, wells, health care programs and community relationships that are the hallmarks of CAUSE Kids sponsorship. |
